Cody Michaloski found dead in a Grande Prairie apartment was the victim of a homicide

RCMP were called to an apartment building on Poplar Drive in the early morning hours of October 13th where they found the body of a man in one of the units.

Police initially called the death suspicious however, an autopsy was conducted and proved otherwise. Police have not released the cause of death, only saying that the victim has been identified as Cody Michaloski, 28, and his death has been ruled a homicide.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Update May 29th, 2020
RCMP arrested Benjamin Pearson, 25, of Kelowna, on May 27th and charged him with the First Degree Murder of Cody Michaloski. Police have issued an arrest warrant for Adam Pearson, 26, for First Degree Murder. He is described as 5’9″, 166lbs, blue eyes and red hair.

Update: On July 17, 2021, Canada made a request to the United States for the provisional arrest of the 27-year-old male, under the US-Canada Extradition Treaty. He was located and arrested by the FBI on July 26, 2021.

Pearson was returned to Canada, pursuant to the extradition request, on February 18, 2022.

Once in Canada, the 27-year-old male had a bail hearing, which resulted in him being held in custody.
