Police in Cochrane say they responded to a call about a domestic incident on the Mini Thni Stoney First Nation on Sunday evening, around 7 p.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered a woman deceased inside a secondary residence on the property. A suspect was taken into custody shortly after, following a search of a nearby wooded area.

An autopsy carried out the next day confirmed the death was a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Kayla Rothe of Calgary. Authorities have charged 18-year-old Mini Thni resident Jorge Twoyoungmen with second-degree murder in relation to her death.
