Retired 59-year-old postal worker Debbie Ann Hutchinson was last seen in surveillance video at local businesses on April 15, 2017. The following day her 2005 white Kia Magentis was spotted on fire in a wooded area off Cossitt Heights Drive. Police did not give a reason as to why they are investigating the death of Hutchinson as a homicide.

On June 13th 2023 police announced that they believe people would have seen Hutchinson driving in Sydney, N.S., on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Investigators are looking to speak to people who were driving in the area between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on the day the vehicle was found burning.
Police are also looking to identify the driver’s vehicles shown by video surveillance traveling on Cossitt Heights Drive at the same time as Hutchinson’s vehicle, a black Ford Escape, a blue Ford Ranger, and a green pick-up truck.
