RCMP announced that an investigation was launched after police were called to a sudden death at a Courtenay residence on June 20th.

Upon arrival, officers noted circumstances that raised immediate concerns, prompting a more in-depth inquiry. The home was secured for several days as Comox Valley RCMP conducted a detailed forensic investigation.

An autopsy later confirmed the death was a result of homicide.

On July 9, 2025, Cameron McIndoe was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody.

Police have confirmed that McIndoe and the victim were acquainted. Investigators say there was never any threat to public safety during the investigation.

“Our Major Crime Unit has been working tirelessly to piece together what happened, and that work will continue as the case moves through the legal system,” said Staff Sergeant Jonah Todd, Commander of the Comox Valley RCMP’s Plainclothes Unit.

To protect both the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of those involved, authorities say no additional information will be released at this time.
