Calgary police are investigating the suspicious death of a 21-year-old woman whose body was found near the village of Cremona earlier this week.

The Calgary Police Service’s Homicide Unit was notified on Wednesday, July 29, after the woman was discovered deceased. Following an autopsy conducted on Friday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the death was officially ruled suspicious.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Shakira Bearspaw of Calgary.

Police said one person was taken into custody during the investigation but has since been released without charges.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and investigators have not released any additional details.
