The 2024 Calgary Homicide Victim List is available here

Calgary police responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of 40th Street S.E at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024.

On arrival police located Michael VESTERFELT, 62, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Update October 7th 2025:
Following a year-long investigation, Calgary Police have charged Tian Pearson GARDYPIE, 28, with second-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. Investigators believe the victim and the suspect were not known to each other at the time of the incident.
