Ontario Provincial Police have laid a manslaughter charge against a 32-year-old Etobicoke man following an August assault in Bolton that claimed the life of a local resident.

Police say officers were called to a business near King Street West and Queen Street North at approximately 8 p.m. on August 24 after receiving reports of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found a 54-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim, identified by police as Oleksandr Grabyn of Bolton, was transported to hospital for treatment.

Grabyn died from his injuries on August 30, according to the OPP.

Police say the accused was initially charged on August 24. Following Grabyn’s death six days later, the charges were upgraded to manslaughter.

The OPP have not released details about the original charges or provided further information about the circumstances leading to the altercation.
