The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Bracebridge shared on May 21 that two individuals had been arrested after an investigation into the child’s death, which occurred in January 2023. According to police, the child had suffered severe injuries.
Emergency services were called to a report of a seriously injured child around 7:45 p.m. on January 5. The child was transported to hospital but passed away two days later.
The 24-year-old man was taken into custody on May 20 and charged with second-degree murder. The following day, a 33-year-old woman from Gravenhurst was arrested and charged with failing to provide the necessities of life.
According to Orillia Matters the accused have been identified as Tyler Phillip Whale, 24, of Brampton & Justine Osborne, 33, of Gravenhurst.
Both individuals are expected to appear in court in Bracebridge on May 23.
