Edmonton police were called to the Edmonton Remand Centre on the report of a death, on June 29th at 5:45 pm. It has been reported that two inmates were involved in an altercation, resulting in the death of one inmate.
Police arrived to find 57-year-old Bruce Windsor who was declared deceased on scene by paramedics. The cause of death was strangulation by a bedsheet.
Update November 4th
Clayton Berard, 38, has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of 57-year-old Bruce Donald Windsor. He confessed to assaulting and strangling Windsor shortly after the 57-year-old entered the protective custody unit. In that case, Clayton Berard, 44, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on October 23, 2025.
