Ottawa 2026 Homicide Victim List

Ottawa police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after two young boys were found dead inside a south Ottawa home on Monday, June 29th, while their father was discovered dead hours earlier in a burned vehicle in eastern Ontario.

Officers were called to a home on Mandevilla Crescent around 10 a.m. for a wellness check, where they found the bodies of two boys, aged seven and 12. The Ottawa Police Service’s homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Earlier that morning, Ontario Provincial Police responded to a vehicle fire at the Kemptville carpool lot near Highway 416 and Rideau River Road. Investigators located the body of an adult man inside the burned vehicle and later identified him as the children’s father.

Police are also examining a business fire in Iroquois, Ontario, as part of the investigation. Authorities say the case is complex and involves multiple scenes across eastern Ontario.

Investigators believe the deaths are connected and are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide. However, the investigation remains ongoing.

Police have not released the identities of the children as next of kin notifications continue. Officials have also stated there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Ottawa Police Service homicide unit.

Update: New information has emerged in the investigation into the deaths of two young brothers in Ottawa, revealing a series of connected events involving their father. According to CBC News, investigators believe 40-year-old father, Mohammed Al-Lami, killed his seven- and 12-year-old sons at their home in Ottawa’s Findlay Creek neighbourhood sometime overnight between Sunday and Monday.

CBC reports that the father then allegedly drove to his dental clinic in Iroquois, Ont., where he used gasoline to set the business on fire, causing an explosion that damaged the property but left no one else injured. Afterward, he was found dead in his vehicle at a carpool lot near Kemptville in what police are treating as a suicide.

Court records reviewed by CBC show the father was on probation at the time of his death after being convicted earlier this year of threatening his ex-wife in 2024. His probation included a no-contact order, with limited exceptions related to arranging access to his children.

Police have identified the case as a murder-suicide and say there will be no criminal prosecution because the father is the only suspect. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Out of respect for their mother’s wishes and the family’s privacy, the children’s names will not be released.
