Toronto police responded to a shooting in the area of Marlee Avenue and Glengrove Avenue W. at 12:24 p.m. on April 30th.
On arrival police located a person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Daniel Stopnicki, 47, of Toronto, a member of Sheridan College’s game development program advisory committee.

Police said a suspect was taken into custody near the scene. Michaelo Markicevic, 67, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:
Second Degree Murder
The accused served with the Collingwood Police Service in the 1990s, and was a former York University executive.
According to CBC News, Markicevic worked as York University’s assistant vice-president of campus service and business operations in the early 2000s. CBC also reported that York University successfully sued him for fraud connected to multiple schemes that caused the university losses exceeding $1 million. In the court ruling, the judge stated that between 2007 and 2010, Markicevic occupied a senior position of trust at York but exploited that role for personal benefit by orchestrating two fraudulent schemes through his subordinates.
Police are urging anyone who has information or video footage of the incident from security cameras to come forward and get in touch with them or Crime Stoppers.
