On the morning of December 30th, at around 9:15 a.m., Halifax police responded to a weapons call at a business in the 1500 block of Brunswick Street. According to reports, a man entered the premises and attacked two men before fleeing the scene.

One of the victims, 55-year-old Tony Nader, was stabbed and taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A second victim, a 66-year-old man, was also injured but is expected to recover.

A 25-year-old suspect was arrested nearby shortly after the incident, and charges were expected to follow.

Update: In June, 28-year-old Cymon Cormier was found guilty of first-degree murder after a judge rejected his claim that he was not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder.

On July 28th it was announced that Corimer received a mandatory life sentence with no eligibility for parole for 25 years
