Two children ages 6 months and 3 years old, stabbed to death in Edmonton. Murder charges have been laid

Edmonton police responded to a domestic violence report on December 5th at approximately 5:35pm, at an apartment near 79th ave and 71 st. 

Police arrived to find an injured woman, who was allegedly being chased by a male suspect. Further investigation lead police to discover that there were two children involved, the youngest being the biological child of the suspect. 

Police were unable to locate the children during the initial search at the apartment where the children lived with their mother. 

The suspect was arrested at a garage that he had broken into, and after questioning the whereabouts of the children, police returned to the apartment. 

The children were found concealed under household items in a room that was being used as a storage room. Both children were deceased. Police charged the 29-year-old male suspect with 2 counts of second degree murder.

Police stated that the name of the accused will not be released as it does not serve an investigative purpose at this time.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner has confirmed that two children ages six months and 3 years old were stabbed to death, and the manner of death is homicide.
