Montreal police were called to the Esso gas station on St-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street at around 11pm on December 4th on report of an incident.
Police arrived to find a 49 year old woman who had been waiting for her daughter to finish her shift at the gas station suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The woman was rushed to hospital where she died from her injury.
Police found the victims crashed car a few blocks away. Moments later a 911 call was received by a 64 year old man who had sustained a non life threatening gunshot wound to the leg by a man who demanded his car keys.
After a lengthy chase Longueuil police force arrested the man at the Dix30 shopping center.
Update December 6th
Frederick Gingras, 21, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in the slaying of Chantal Cyr, 49, and James Jardin a man in his 20’s that was found dead in his apartment.
The death of the woman is the 23rd confirmed homicide of this year. The 2016 Montreal homicide Victim list is available here.
