Update arrest made: Winnipeg police investigating a suspicious death as a homicide

Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to a report of an injured male at a residence in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue on March 10th at approximately 12:05am.

The male victim who was found unconscious with significant injuries was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police have not released the identity of the victim or cause of death at this time.

Update March 13th
Winnipeg police have identified the victim as Travis Joel Johnson, 37. A Canada wide warrant for the arrest of Dylan James Mousseau, 22, for second-degree murder in relation to the death of Johnson. Mousseau is described as Indigenous in appearance, 6’3” in height, approximately 148 lbs in weight and has a thin build. He has brown eyes and is believed to have short black hair. He is also known to have animal paw tattoos on both hands.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911. Additional information that may assist investigators can be relayed to Homicide Unit investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update May 14th, 2020
On May 12th Winnipeg police arrested Dylan James Mousseau, 22, and charged with Second Degree Murder. Mousseau remains in custody.
