Update: Autistic man Vincent Fong charged with the murder of his father in Calgary’s first homicide of 2019

Calgary police were called to a home in the 200 block of Edgepark Way N.W., on reports of a suspicious death on January 9th at 2:15pm.

Police arrived to find a Deceased male victim, and police said the homicide was domestic in nature, and there is no threat to the community.

Police arrested Vincent Fong at the scene, and he has been charged with second degree murder for fatally stabbing his father, 70-year-old Kwan Fong, in the neck.

Update: Vincent Fong has admitted to killing his father, 70-year-old Kwan Fong, however, jurors are tasked with determining his intent at the time. It has been revealed that Vincent Fong is Autistic and required a support worker. 

The support worker Lone Jensen had gone to the home after Vincent called her to say he hurt his father. When she arrived at the home she called 911.

“She said that the accused said he was scared of his father. He had complained about his father yelling at him and calling him a bad word in Chinese.” Fong wanted to move but his father didn’t want him to leave, Jensen said.
