Tragic Stabbing in Hamilton: 47-Year-Old Venanzio Tirabassi Dies After Attack

On January 2nd, 2025, at approximately 7:10 PM, Hamilton police were called to 135 Mary Street, responding to a report of a stabbing at the Good Shepherd.

Police arrived to find Venanzio “Vinny” Tirabassi, 47, suffering from a serious stab wound to the chest. Tirabassi was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital, where he was placed on life support. Tragically, on Tuesday, January 7th, Venanzio succumbed to his injuries.

The Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation, as this case is now being treated as a homicide.

Fredeman Renderos, 53, was arrested at the scene on January 2nd. Initially charged with aggravated assault, the charge will now be upgraded to second-degree murder following Venanzio’s death. Police said the victim and accused were housed in the same dorm, and there were no previously reported issues.
