Update July 16th 2026: According to The Toronto Star, Williams, 38, died after falling from the eighth-floor balcony of his Church Street apartment in Toronto on April 24, 2024, while attempting to escape a confrontation. According to an agreed statement of facts, Williams had a history of climbing between balconies to avoid danger and panicked after being threatened by Joshua Pilgrim during a dispute over stolen property and drugs.

Pilgrim pleaded guilty to manslaughter, admitting he knew Williams was likely to try escaping via the balcony and that his threats of violence contributed to Williams’ death. Williams lost his grip while trying to climb to a neighbouring balcony and died after falling onto scaffolding below.

The confrontation began when Pilgrim and three others went to Williams’ apartment to recover stolen Ensure nutritional drinks and drugs. During the incident, another man physically assaulted Williams while Pilgrim threatened him, prompting Williams to flee onto the balcony.
