Update August 14th 2026,

Last month, police released surveillance footage recorded the day before the homicide. Investigators said the video shows a man they believe was responsible for the shooting walking through the plaza on November 11. Detective Sergeant Sajeev Nair of the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit said investigators believe the suspect was left-handed and had a specific gait when walking.

As a result of the information the police received, they have announced that we believe the suspect goes by the first name Jay.

As part of the investigation, police released security footage from a March 10, 2023 attempted murder in the same Midland Avenue and Passmore-area plaza where Wang was killed in November 2022. The video shows a suspect emerging from a black SUV and firing several shots at a person getting into a white Toyota van.

Investigators believe the suspect in the 2023 shooting is the same man involved in Wang’s murder and say he may have had access to a black four-door SUV. Police are urging anyone who recognizes “Jay,” his appearance, movements, associates or vehicle to come forward.
