Toronto Homicide #61 – Thane Murray fatally shot near Regent Park

Toronto police responded to a call for a shooting in the Oak Street and Sumach Street area on September 18th at approximately 8:52pm.

Police arrived to find three men suffering from gunshot wounds. A 29-year-old man from Toronto was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries and is now in stable condition. A27-year-old man from Toronto was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The third man, Thane Murray, 27, of Toronto, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said all suspects were wearing dark coloured clothing and were wearing masks that concealed their faces. The suspects were last seen fleeing the area together in a northerly direction.

Update: On Monday, December 13, 2021, police arrested and charged Noah Anderson, 20, of Toronto, with:

1. First Degree Murder
2. two counts of Attempt Murder

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, police arrested and charged Junior Jahmal Harvey, 20, of Toronto, with:

1. First Degree Murder
2. two counts of Attempt Murder

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jabreel Elmi, 27, of Toronto. He is wanted for:

1. First Degree Murder
2. two counts of Attempt Murder

Jabreel (pictured below) is described as 5’7″, 180lbs, with a stocky build. Police are seeking the public’s assistance locating Jabreel. If located, do not approach, call 9-1-1. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Update July 8th, 2022
Toronto police offer a reward up to $50,000, as part of the BOLO Porgram for the arrest of Jabreel Elmi, 28, who is wanted by the Toronto Police Service on Canada-wide warrants for first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. He is believed to be in the Greater Toronto area.

TPS said the rewards are available until January 7, 2023.

Anyone who sees Elmi, should immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone offering them assistance in evading arrest may be considered an accessory after the fact and face charges.

Update September 13th 2022
A Canada-wide arrest warrant has now been issued for Rajahden Angus Campbell, 22, of Toronto.

He is wanted for:

  1. First Degree Murder
  2. two counts of Attempt Murder

Rajahden Angus Campbell is described as Black, approximately 6’1″, and 174 lbs. He is to be considered armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.
