Toronto police responded to a call for unknown trouble at Lawrence Avenue West and Culford Road on July 23rd at approximately 2:43am.

Police arrived to find Claudette James, 63, of Toronto, suffering from life threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts from Toronto paramedics. Claudette James was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of death has not been released by investigators.

Police arrested Shelly-Ann James, 36, of Toronto at the scene, and charged her with First Degree Murder. Toronto police Const. David Hopkinson confirmed the woman facing charges is the victim’s daughter.
