Sooke RCMP received a report of a man covered in blood near Pachidah Road On the evening of June 23, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered another man with serious injuries. Despite attempts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Early findings suggested foul play, prompting investigators to treat the case as a homicide. VIIMCU has since taken over the investigation.

According to Corporal Alex Bérubé of the BC RCMP, current evidence indicates this was an isolated incident. One person was taken into custody at the scene.
