High Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an intoxicated adult female at a residence causing a disturbance on the Gift Lake Métis Settlement on May 19th at approximately 6:52pm.

High Prairie RCMP were en-route to the Gift Lake Métis Settlement residence that was approximately 1 hour away when they received a report of a stabbing in the same Gift Lake residence where the intoxicated female was.

Police arrived and located the injured man and provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

The suspect was arrested a short time later at a nearby residence and arrested by the High Prairie RCMP and held in custody. Tara Rita Auger, 38, of Red Earth Creek Alberta has been charged with second degree murder of Russell Lawrence Lamouche, 48. of the Gift Lake Métis Settlement.
