Wetaskiwin RCMP investigating a suspicious death

Police were called to the area of Range Road 243-A and Township Road 473 on January 6th at approximately 1:00am on report of a unresponsive person.

Police arrived to find a deceased middle-aged man. The victims death is being investigated as a suspicious. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Second suspicious death in Wetaskiwin in less than a week

Wetaskiwin were called to an apartment building at the request of EMS on August 26th after a man was found suffering from life threatening injuries.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police have not released the cause of death at this time. Police have said that this death is not related to the death of Nakoda Toyoungmen on August 24th.

Second degree murder charge laid in the death of 16 year old Nakoda Twoyoungmen

Wetaskiwin police were called to a plaza in the area of 52 Street and 48 Avenue on August 24th on report of an injured young man.

Nakoda Towyoungmen 16, of Samson Cree Nation, was found by police at a plaza in the area of 52 Street and 48 Avenue suffering from serious injuries. Towyoungmen was rushed to hospital when he died of his injuries.

22 year old Matthew Alexander Lightning was arrested on August 25th and charged with second degree murder.
