Statistics on Canadian Homicides
Lethbridge police on patrol observed and intervened in an assault in progress along the 400 block of 6 Avenue South on September 16th at approximately 3:30pm.
Paramedics were called to assist the injured 48 year old woman. The victim was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries.
A 52 year old man was arrested at the scene and charged with second degree murder.
Police are not releasing the names of the victim or the accused at this time.
Lethbridge police said on July 7th, that they are investigating the April 28th death of Austin Lucas Wright 9 months old, after an autopsy determined his death was a homicide.
Austin was found by paramedics on April 28th in cardiac arrest. The child died in hospital.
Police have not disclosed the cause of death or any suspects.
Lethbridge Police were called to a home on 18 Street North at around 9:40 pm on April 28th. On arrival they found Shelley Praill 54, suffering life threatening injuries from a stab wound.
Jessica Lee Ann Praill, 28, was arrested at the scene and later charged with second degree murder.
Police believe an argument between the two lead to the murder.
Emergency crews responded to call at an apartment complex on Columbia Boulevard in Lethbridge February 7th on reports of an injured woman.
Frances Candice Little Light 56, was found by paramedics and transported to hospital where she died a short time later.
An autopsy was conducted on February 9th, however police are not releasing the cause of death. Police have no suspects at this time.
Police responded to call of welfare after family members were unable to reach Irene Carter 78. Police arrived to Carter’s home in Lethbridge around 2 p.m. on January 17th and found Cater dead. Autopsy revealed the cause of death was a combination of blunt force injuries and stab wounds to the chest. Carter had been stabbed 13 times.

Update June 14th
On April 7, 2017, Lisa Freihaut, 52, the daughter of Carter, addressed the media to ask for help from the public in catching her mothers killer. Freihaut expressed her gratitude for the support the family received during the search for Carter’s killer.
On June 11th, 2018, Lisa Freihaut pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in her mother’s killing. She has been sentenced to life without parole for a minimum 11 years.
On the morning of Sept 19th Police found the body of 29-year-old Matthew James Flitton deceased in his Lethbridge home.
Randall William Enright who was arrested that same day, has been charged with one count of second degree murder.
Kyle Osborn Devine, 27, 24-year-old Clarissa Michelle English, and her 18-year old brother, Dakota Julius Ray English, were found dead in their Lethbridge home on April 26th after a neighbour requested officers check on them.
Austin Lane Vielle, who is 21, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder.
