Police were called to the Ste. Therese home of Sylvain Éthier, on September 15th on report of a shooting at around 9pm. Police arrived to find Sylvain Éthier, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Éthier was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he died shortly after arrival. Police believe the shooting was targeted, and have not made ant arrests at this time.

Éthier was known to police and was accused of being the mastermind of a contraband tobacco ring earlier this year.
