Stephen McKenzie, 39, Killed in Sucker River; Saskatchewan RCMP Search for Suspect

Saskatchewan 2026 Homicide Victim List

La Ronge RCMP were called to a home in Sucker River around 12:20 a.m. on March 4, 2026, after receiving a report that someone had been injured.

On arrival, police located an injured man and began providing first aid until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to the hospital by EMS, where he was later pronounced dead.

RCMP say the victim has been identified as Stephen McKenzie, 39, of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. His family has been notified, and victim services are being offered to support them.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (HIU), working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, has since determined McKenzie’s death is a homicide and is continuing the investigation. Officers are currently working to identify and locate the person or people responsible.

Police are asking anyone with information about McKenzie’s death to contact La Ronge RCMP at 310-RCMP.
