The Alberta Murder Victim List 2025 is available here

On February 19th, St. Albert firefighters were called to a fire at a home on Keystone Crescent. During their response, they discovered the body of 59-year-old Mai Diab, a well-known local dentist.

The RCMP’s major crimes unit has took over the investigation. Authorities indicated that early findings suggest Diab may have been deliberately targeted, with financial motives suspected.

On March 25, the RCMP revealed that 44-year-old Edmonton resident Mouhamad Fadi Orfahly has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Mai Diab’s death.

Authorities also confirmed that a second individual is facing charges for indignity to human remains and being an accessory after the fact to murder. The second suspect is a 43-year-old resident of Oakville, Ontario, who was arrested in Toronto.

According to CBC, RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said the victim and one of the suspects were known to each other as acquaintances but did not elaborate further.
