Sgt. Maureen Breau, and a second officer were attempting to arrest a 35-year-old man who was accused of uttering threats on March 27th at approximately 8:30 p.m, in the area of Saint-Aime St. and Saint-Laurent Ave.
According to reports, as the one officer was reading the perpetrator his rights, the 35-year-old man then grabbed a knife and stabbed Sgt. Maureen Breau. She died of her injuries.
Sergeant Breau, who had just over 20 years of experience with the Sûreté du Québec, was assigned to the post of the MRC de Maskinongé.
Two other officers who arrived shortly after Breau, shot and killed the offender.
