It has been reported that a 59 year-old male inmate was declared deceased on December 23, 2021, at the Regina Reintegration Unit.

According to reports Corrections staff called EMS and initiated life-saving measures when they located the man unresponsive in his room. Paramedics declared the inmate deceased at approximately 10:20 pm.

The death is not a Covid-19 related death, however, the cause of death has not been revealed. The Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service have been notified and are investigating. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation.
