Det. Sgt. Jim Callender of the Hamilton police major crime unit said Monica Chisar was last seen on July 11, 2018 when she was dropped off in the area of Barton Street East and Parkdale Avenue North. Chisar didn’t have an extensive history in Hamilton but did have a wide circle of associates in the Greater Toronto Area and Kitchener.
Ontario Provincial Police, Det. Insp. Scott Moore said a father and son were out walking in a wooded area near Highway 6 and Southgate Road 10 on Christmas eve 2019 when they discovered what was believed to be human remains.
The OPP criminal investigation branch opened an investigation and an extensive search of the area where the remains were found. A lengthy investigation confirmed the remains to be Monica Chisar, 29 and the manner of death to be a homicide.

Update August 19th
Detective Inspector MaryLouise Kearns of the OPP Criminal Investigation Bureau said on August 17th, 2021, Opp and Hamilton Police under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigations Branch arrested Ahmet Nikci, 40, of no fixed address. Nikci has been charged with second degree murder and indignity to a body.
