Regina police declare the death of a 2-year-old girl in June a homicide

Regina police were dispatched to assist other emergency responders at a residence on the 2300 block of Retallack Street on June 9th at approximately 10:30am, after receiving information that a two year-old girl (35 months) had been seriously injured during a fall down stairs.

The child was rushed to hospital and then airlifted to Saskatoon hospital where she died of her injuries on June 13th.

As a result of the criminal investigation two adults, Brittney Catherine Emma BURGHARDT, 26, and Justin Noah Paul ANDERSON, 24 were arrested on July 14th. Burghardt was charged with Second-Degree Murder, and Anderson was charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder. Both have been charged with Forcible Confinement, section 279(2) of the Criminal Code.
