Leduc RCMP received a report of a well-being check on a male at an apartment building on 50 Street in Leduc. Upon entering the apartment, RCMP located a deceased male on May 7th.

The deceased, 74-year-old Leduc resident Leonard Harry Belcourt was transported to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed and took carriage of the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, on May 8, 2024, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit with assistance from the Leduc RCMP General Investigations Section charged a 45-year-old individual, a resident of Leduc with second-degree murder.
