RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment investigates a fatal shooting in North Preston

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment received a report that a man had been shot on Downey Rd, near the 1100 block on May 8, at approximately 11:48 p.m.

According to a press release, RCMP officers who were nearby on an unrelated matter arrived within minutes and secured the area. Additional RCMP officers, with assistance from the Halifax Regional Police Emergency Response Team, were also quickly dispatched.

On arrival, police located a 36-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began first aid. The man was later transported to hospital by EHS where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators said “At this time, there’s no information to suggest that this incident was the result of a random act.”
