Hamilton, Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List
At approximately 8:00 a.m. on May 29, 2026, officers were alerted to a body found in the water near Wilcox Street North.
Due to the suspicious nature of the circumstances, the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Update: Hamilton police have upgraded the death investigation to a homicide investigation after a post-mortem examination confirmed that the death of 48-year-old Marcin Sydor was the result of foul play.
Sydor was reported missing to Hamilton Police on April 27, 2026. During the investigation, officers determined that his disappearance was unusual and out of character, prompting extensive efforts to locate him.
Following the discovery of his body, a post-mortem examination was conducted and positively identified the deceased as Sydor. The examination concluded that he was the victim of a homicide. Investigators have not released the cause of death or details about his injuries, citing the need to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
The Hamilton Police Homicide Unit has now taken over the case and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding Sydor’s death and identify those responsible.
Investigators are asking anyone who had contact with Sydor or information about his movements before his death to come forward. Police are also seeking information about his black 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows.
