Durham regional police received a call to assist the Oshawa Fire Department at a home on Court Street on March 6th at approximately 9:50 a.m.
Once the blaze was extinguished, firefighters located a deceased person. The Ontario Fire Marshal was called in and deemed the fire suspicious in nature. Police said a post-mortem examination was completed on March 7th and determined the victim suffered trauma to the body prior to the fire, which investigators believe is indicative of a homicide.
Update: The victim has been identified as Amaar JAWAID, age 22.
Update October 10th
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Josh BICKLE, age 37 of Tweed, who is wanted for Second-Degree Murder.
BICKLE is currently on charges for a violent sexual assault and is required to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet. Investigators have evidence to support that BICKLE has removed his monitoring bracelet and are appealing to the public for assistance in locating him.

BICKLE is known to frequent the Tweed and Belleville areas. He has ties to the Oshawa area as well as the east coast provinces. Investigators are urging BICKLE to contact counsel and turn himself into police. Anyone who is found to be assisting BICKLE to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted.
On Friday, November 24, 2023 members of the Offender Management Unit located BICKLE in the area of Mary Street North and Adelaide Avenue East in Oshawa. With the assitance of the Tactical Support Unit, BICKLE was arrested without incident. Josh BICKLE, age 37 of Tweed has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
