Victoria Police were called to a suite in a multi-unit residential building in the 600-block of Grenville Avenue in Esquimalt on December 22 at approximately 5:30 am, on the report of a shooting.

Police located the victim, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. The male victim was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said the suspect fled the scene, however, they arrested the man later that day. Investigators believe that this incident was a targeted shooting, and do not believe there is a risk to wider public safety. The identity of the victim and suspect will not be released.
