Millbrook RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a home on Glooscap Dr on July 12th at approximately 2:15pm.
On arrival police found 42-year-old Douglas Bert Knockwood Sipekne’katik* deceased and ruled his death a homicide. Police have not released the victim’s identity, cause of death, or if there are any suspects in the case.
The Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit is asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact them at 902-896-5060.
*Sipekne’katik is the second largest Mi’kmaq band in Nova Scotia.
On August 26th police arrested Adria Gloade, 37, of Millbrook, and charged her with Accessory after the Fact to Murder.
Update December 1st
RCMP Major Crime Unit has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Valdo Pauyo, 27, originally from Montreal, for Second Degree Murder in relation to the death of Bert Knockwood. Police believe that Pauyo has made attempts to change his appearance. Pauyo (pictured below) is also known to use the alias “C.J.” Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime at 902-896-5060.
Update: Pauyo was arrested in Montreal on April 26th, 2024 by Québec RCMP Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unitand Nova Scotia RCMP.
A transport order was obtained and Pauyo was flown back to Nova Scotia on April 27. He is scheduled to appear before Supreme Court in Truro on May 7.
