Brampton Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List

Police say the incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday, January 12, in a parking lot near the intersection of Castlemore Road and McVean Drive.

The victim and the accused were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical confrontation allegedly over a parking spot. During the altercation, the victim was assaulted and suffered critical injuries before being taken to hospital. The victim later died as a result of those injuries on Thursday, January 15. The exact cause of death has not been released.

According to CTV News the victim was 50-year-old Chris Shanab.

Following the investigation, 25-year-old Abdifatah Ahmed of Brampton was arrested on Tuesday, January 20, and charged with manslaughter. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
