Update Charges Laid – Ottawa police investigate the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ottawa rapper John Ndayishimiye aka Jdub

Ottawa police responded to a home in the 2200 block of Elmira Drive for a call for service at approximately 3:16am on December 6th.

On arrival police located 16-year-olf John Ndayishimiye deceased. Police said a second 16-year-old teen was also found at scene with non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators believe that the shooting was targeted and not a random act. Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.

  • According to CBC news John Ndayishimiye ID’d the alleged shooter in the July 2021 homicide of football teammate Tyson Ndongozi.

Ndayishimiye was a local rapper known as Jdub.

Update November 5th 2022
The Ottawa Homicide Unit has charged one adult and one youth with first degree murder in the shooting death of John Ndayishimiye. The two are facing further charges of attempted murder in the shooting of a second victim in the same incident.

The accused adult is Noel PEREZ, 26, of Ottawa. A third person, Hantel HERSI, age 23, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and attempted murder.    

PEREZ, HERSI and the youth appeared in court and have been remanded into custody. 

A warrant is being sought for the arrest of a fourth person.
