The RCMP Major Crimes Unit in Newfoundland and Labrador announced that they have charged 33-year-old Joey Millie in connection with a deadly house fire in Nain last November. Millie faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson with disregard for human life.

The fire occurred around 9:00 p.m. on November 27, 2025, at a home on Middle Path Road. When officers from the Nain RCMP arrived, they discovered two people had died inside the residence.

Following the tragic incident, the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. On February 28, 2026, Joey Millie, a resident of Nain, was arrested and formally charged. He appeared in provincial court on March 1 and has been remanded into custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for March 11, 2026.

Authorities say the investigation into the fire is still ongoing as they continue to gather evidence and details surrounding the incident.
