Montreal police responded to the report of a shooting at an apartment in the area of Perras Boulevard, near 54e Avenue, in the Rivière-des-Prairies neighbourhood on August 2nd at approximately 7:00pm.
Police said the assailant fired from outside of the apartment sending five people to hospital. All of the victims were in the same unit at the time of the shooting. One victim died of their injuries at approximately 9:30pm on August 2nd, the second victim died before midnight and the third died in the early hours of August 3rd. Police have not released the gender or identities of the victims.
Forensic units remain on scene on August 3rd. Anyone with information to contact the Info–Crime tip line.
Update August 5th
The three victims have been identified as Jerry Willer Jean-Baptiste, 29, also known by his rapper name, “Mackazoe”, Jefferson Syla, 29, and Molière Dantes, Jean-Baptiste, 53.
Update October 14th
Montreal police announced that they had arrested Clifford Domercant-Barosy, 26, and Marlon Francisco Villa-Guzman, 25, and 23-year-old Jonas Castor. All three face charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm in connection with the triple homicide.
Update December 15th
The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal announced that a 4th suspect age 21, was arrested at Bordeaux jail, where he was already detained.
Update May 2023
Marlon Francisco Villa-Guzman, the driver involved in the violent incident, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Update: On June 27th, 2024 police arrested a minor, who was already in a detention centre, and charged him with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
