Police say murder-suicide in relation to the bodies of two people discovered in Plateau-Mont-Royal apartment

Montreal police responded to a 911 call from an apartment at St. Urbain St. and Fairmount Ave. 3:15 a.m. November 5th.

Police arrived to find Daniel Shlafman, 31, son of Fairmount Bagel owner Irwin Shlafman, and 25-year-old female deceased. Police said the deaths were caused by a weapon with a blade, such as a knife.

Update November 27th
According to Stella, a Montreal organization by and for sex workers, the 25-year-old woman victim was an escort who was most likely working independently when she met up with the 31-year-old who committed suicide.

Sandra Wesley, executive director of Stella said “We had heard from workers that had seen him that he was increasingly aggressive, denigrating and violent” (Source Global).
