Mississauga Double Homicide: Elderly Couple Dead, Their Son Jordan Sangwin, Arrested Inside a Makeshift Shelter in Mimico Creek Park

Peel Police were called to a residence near Lakeshore Road East and Hurontario Street at approximately 7:07 p.m. following reports of a disturbance.

When police arrived, they discovered a 70-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. The couple was transported to hospital, where both later died. Investigators said the injuries were not caused by a firearm. The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Carol Sangwin and 71-year-old Garwood Sangwin.

According to CP24, Police have identified the couple’s 46-year-old son, Jordan Sangwin, as the primary suspect. Authorities say Sangwin left the residence before officers arrived and is considered armed and dangerous.

He is described as male, White, medium build with short salt and pepper hair and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a grey long sleeve shirt, dark shorts and carrying a black duffle bag. He is known to frequent the Lakeshore Road area of Mississauga.

At a news conference, Peel police encouraged Sangwin to seek legal counsel and surrender to authorities. Investigators noted that he did not live at his parents’ home and that they do not believe he possesses a firearm or left the scene with a weapon.

The deaths mark Peel Region’s 10th and 11th homicide cases of 2026.

Update: Peel Regional Police said 46-year-old Jordan Sangwin was arrested by Toronto police at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday June 27th, after investigators received a tip from a member of the public. Police have charged him with two counts of first-degree murder. 

According to police, Sangwin was located in a makeshift shelter inside Mimico Creek Park in Etobicoke before being handed over to Peel homicide investigators.
