Lakhwinder Singh Bal dead after fatal altercation in Surrey

Surrey RCMP responded to report of a fight at the McDonald’s restaurant near 129th Street and 96th Avenue on August 19th at approximately 9:00pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Lakhwinder Singh Bal, 48, unresponsive. Bal was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Investigators said Bal was known to police and the homicide was not random. Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448)

Update October 30th
On October 25th, 2019, Gurmail Biring, 72, and his son Daljeet Biring, 42, were arrested and charged with manslaughter murder in relation to the death of Lakhwinder Singh Bal.

Update April 17th 2024
A Judge has ruled that circumstantial evidence and reasonable doubt by the two men’s lawyers was enough to find them not guilty of murder.
