Amherst police responded to a shooting on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Bayview Drive.

On arrival, a man was located suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre where he died of his injuries. The victim has been identified as Jerry Jordan Morrissey, 23, of Amherst. Police said Morrissey did not reside at the residence.

Amherst police announced on Novenber 9th that Joseph Thomas Hartson, 33, has been charged with murder Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. He was arrested at the Bayview Drive home where the shooting occurred.
