The 2024 New Brunswick Homicide Victim List is available here

Oromocto RCMP responded to a call for service at a residence on Oromocto First Nation on April 27th at approximately 12:30 p.m.

On arrival police located 54-year-old Sheri Sabattis from the community deceased. Her cause of death has not been released.

Later that day 28-year-old Jared Smith was arrested in connection with the homicide. He was charged with second-degree murder on April 28th, and is scheduled to return to court on April 29.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation, and treating the incident as a homicide.
