James Acker 86, was attacked in his sleep on the night of January 28th at St. Joseph’s Villa, by a resident who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Both Acker and the assailant suffer from alzheimer’s.
Acker was taken to the Hamilton General Hospital with severe head trauma, where he remained until his death on April 16th. Acker’s family said he never recovered from the attack.
The autopsy revealed the cause of Acker’s death to be result of the beating.
Hamilton police said the suspect in this case is not facing criminal charges due to his disease.
