RCMP responded to the report of a shooting in 12200-block of 80 Avenue on October 5th at approximately 9:55pm.

Police located a person suffering from serious injuries who was pronounced at the scene. The victim’s gender and identity has not been released. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team  said “Preliminary info indicates it is related to ongoing gang conflict in the lower mainland.”

IHIT has identified the victim as Sharnbeer Singh Somal, 28, who was known to police. Sgt David Lee said a black Ford pickup truck was found on fire in the area of 129A Street and 72A Avenue, after the homicide. IHIT investigators believe to be connected to the shooting.
