New Westminster Police Department responded to a report of an un-responsive infant in the 1300 block of 5th Avenue in New Westminster on July 24th at approximately 4:20am.

NWPD determined suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and called in the IHIT to take carriage of the investigation. Homicide detectives are speaking with the family and friends to ascertain the specifics around what happened. Local support services have also been engaged.

Police said there is no ongoing public safety issue or investigative need, no names or further details are being released.
